Age limit for JRF and Assistant Professor:

The age limit for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor positions in the UGC NET December 2023 exam may vary, but typically the JRF age limit is up to 30 years. UGC NET December 2023: Age Relaxation

Candidates in various categories are eligible for age relaxation in the UGC NET December 2023 exam:

OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender/Women Applicants: Up to 5 years of age relaxation.

Candidates with Research Experience: A maximum of 5 years of age relaxation will be granted for candidates with research experience in the relevant/related subject of their post-graduation degree, as long as they can provide a certificate from a recognized Indian university, Institute of National Importance, foreign university (recognized/accredited in its own country), or a Public Sector Undertaking of the Indian government/state government. This research experience should not have been conducted during the completion of their graduation or post-graduation degree(s).

L.L.M. Degree Holders: Candidates with an L.L.M. degree are eligible for a relaxation of three years in age.

Ex-Servicemen: Candidates who have served in the armed forces can receive age relaxation, with the extent of relaxation determined by their length of service in the armed forces, up to the first day of the month in which the UGC-NET exam is conducted, which is December 1, 2023.

It’s important to note that the total age relaxation, considering the above-mentioned categories, should not exceed five years under any circumstances.

Assistant Professor: For the position of Assistant Professor, there is no upper age limit when applying for UGC-NET. Candidates of all ages can apply for the UGC-NET exam for the Assistant Professor role.

Steps to Apply UGC-NET December 2023:

  1. Go to the official website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
  2. Find and click on the registration link on the homepage.
  3. Fill out the application form and pay the required fee.
  4. Click on “submit” to finish your application.
  5. Download the completed application form for your records.

Government’s rules on reservations:

The Indian Government’s rules on reservations apply to the UGC-NET exam. In Central Universities and Institutions considered as Universities, seats are set aside as follows:

1. 15% for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
2. 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
3. 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) candidates based on the Central List*.
4. 10% for General-Economically Weaker Sections (General-EWS) candidates.
5. 5% in the mentioned categories for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) with 40% or more disability.

UGC NET December 2023: Exam Date
